
Sanjhi Virasat
Sanjhi Virasat is a Panjabi term that means “shared legacy”. This magazine is a platform for writers and poets of the great language of Panjab to share their works of art with others across the globe.
The variety of topics that come in the ambit of this new magazine “Sanjhi Virasat” shall be based on the following considerations. Its objective is to carry forward the torch of Panjabi language, literature, culture, history, and heritage to new generations.
Panjabi is the Mother Tongue of about 150 million people of different faiths living in many countries. It has a very old history and rich literature. Our common legacy emerges from this heritage.
Panjabi Literature has some distinct qualities in its poetry, essays, short stories, and novels. It reveals knowledge of the common culture and history of the people of this “Land of five Rivers” (Panjab).
Panjabi Poetry has been enriched by stalwarts like Sheikh Farid, Bulley Shah, Dhani Ram Chatrik, Bhai Vir Singh, and Professor Puran Singh. The new poetry brings a contemporary vision with it.
Guru Granth Sahib is the greatest gift to Panjabi literature in one common (Gurmukhi) script, with hymns by saints of different faiths. This is a rich source of our shared heritage and Inter-Faith Dialogue.
Panjabi Stories and Novels stand out due to the brilliant writers of the caliber of Nanak Singh, Sant Singh Sekhon, and Jaswant Singh Kanwal. The new generation is plowing new furrows.
Historical Literature in Panjabi pays tributes to the hundreds of our brave warriors like Hari Singh Nalwa and Baba Banda Bahadur. It reminds us of the selfless sacrifices of our Gurus and others for their principles and Protection of Human Rights.
